How Can Europe Handle the Migration Challenge?

Immigrants from Salzburg, the Huguenots, and the Dutch have shaped Germany. Its industry first needed Polish workers and later on, Russian-Germans. Nowadays we are in the midst of a crisis where 60 million displaced persons worldwide are moving to more secure locations. It appears that Europe is swamped and reaching its limits. Is it a justified fear to speak about the end of Germany or Europe in the same way as the Roman Empire came to fall due to the Barbarian Invasions?
